Dealing With Anger: Allowing the Holy Spirit Teach Us Self-Control

Dealing With Anger: Letting the Holy Spirit Teach Us Self-Control

Anger is something every believer has to face. It can rise up in our thoughts, come out through our words, and show itself in our actions before we even realize how much control it has taken.

The Bible reminds us that our flesh does not produce what is pleasing to God.

Romans 7:18 says:

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

That is why dealing with anger is not just about trying harder. It is a spiritual matter. The flesh has to be brought under subjection, and that does not happen in one moment. It is a daily walk with God.

An Empty Tomb Confirms Truth

By Pastor Dennis Williams

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the NT. It affirms His divinity, validates His ministry, and paves the way for the future resurrection of believers.

Jesus Christ’s resurrection was foreshadowed in the OT
In Abraham and Isaac: Ge 22:5; Heb 11:19
In Jonah: Jnh 1:17; 2:10; Mt 12:40

Jesus Christ’s resurrection was predicted
1Co 15:3-4 Also see: Isa 53:11; Hos 6:2; Lk 24:45-46; Ac 2:25-31; 13:35; Ps 16:8-11; Ac 13:34; 26:22-23

By Jesus Christ himself, Mt 16:21 Mk 8:31  Lk 9:22 Also see: Mt 17:9  Mk 9:9; Mt 20:18-19  Mk 10:32-34  Lk 18:31-33; Mt 26:32  Mk 14:28; Jn 2:19-21

Jesus Christ’s resurrection was anticipated by the raising of the dead
In the OT Heb 11:35 None of the OT or NT miracles are true resurrections. Those raised resumed life as before, their bodies unchanged. Resurrection for Jesus Christ and therefore for his people means a changed body and permanent life in glory. This is the “better resurrection”. Also see: 1Ki 17:22; 2Ki 4:35; 13:21

In the miracles of Jesus Christ Lk 7:22 Mt 11:4-5 Also see: Mt 9:23-25 Mk 5:38-42; Mt 27:52-53; Lk 7:14-15; Jn 11:43-44

The sequence of events in Jesus Christ’s resurrection
It was preceded by suffering and death Php 2:8-9 Also see: Jn 19:28-33; Heb 2:9

It took place on the first day of the week Jn 20:1-2  Mt 28:1-2 Mk 16:2-4  Lk 24:1-3

It was announced by angels Mt 28:5-6  Mk 16:5-6 pp Lk 24:4-6 Also see: Lk 24:23; 1Ti 3:16
